You Might Be Fired If...

...the owner is openly interviewing your potential replacements. Royals owner David Glass has asked for and received permission to interview assistant Atlanta Brave GM Dayton Moore (right) for...well, I guess we can guess what kind of post he'd be interviewing an assistant GM for.

The Royals are currently on a 12-game skid and GM Allard Baird has probably taken his Stryper posters off the wall of his office in preparation for the inevitable. I still refuse to blame Baird, as it is Glass who has the purse strings beyond tight. It will be interesting to see if Moore wants to leave the Braves for a franchise in this much disarray.

Mostly though, no matter what your feelings on Baird, you have to really admire the respect Glass is showing for him by dragging out his dismissal so slowly and publicly. I'm sure the contenders for his position will keep this in mind as they mull over taking the job.
