Steamed Goose

Goose Gossage is upset about the Hall of Fame voting results, telling the New York Post:

"I just can't believe Sutter got in before me."
If you believe in numbers, Gossage did have 10 more wins, 56 more saves and 948 more strikeouts than Sutter. I can't really make a case for either of them over the other one, although Sports Illustrated is saying Gossage, not Sutter. It is an interesting question. It's also going to be interesting to see if voters punish Gossage for complaining; they've done it before. Leo Durocher once said if the Hall didn't put him in while he was alive, he didn't want to go in after he was dead. But 3 years after he died, the Hall did that exact thing in 1994. Don't mess with the voters.
